I've been savoring the FORGOTTEN HORRORS book series since the first volume appeared back in the 1980s (from Eclipse Books), and am gobsmacked that these listings on amazon aren't brimming over with glowing reviews for what I consider THE most essential, invaluable historical genre texts still in print. These new editions helmed by original co-author Michael H. Price are worth more than their weight in gold, in part because (1) the original single-volume text has been conscientiously and quite rigorously expanded into multiple volumes spanning decades; (2) the entire FORGOTTEN HORRORS series sheds light on so many still-lost, still-neglected gems, curios, oddities, and masterpieces; (3) every volume prompts days of search and screenings of films I'd either never heard of, overlooked, or never knew existed; and (4) the through-line of quality and critical reassessment carrying this book series is unprecedented. Kudos, highest recommendation to EVERY volume in this series!

If you like the Forgotten Horrors series, this is more of the same. The focus is on the adaptations of Poe from the Sixties and Seventies along with a few dozen reviews of others movies from that timeframe. I've enjoyed the series, hence the four stars.
